Douglas P. Ferraro, Ph.D.

Dr. Douglas P. Ferraro has been Provost of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, since March 1996. He came to UNLV from Western Michigan University, where he had served as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences since 1990.  Previously, Dr. Ferraro was Chair of the Department of Psychology at the University of New Mexico and served on the faculty of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine.  Dr. Ferraro holds the rank of full professor in the field of psychology and is a licensed psychologist and qualified expert in forensic psychopharmacology.  He is an elected member of numerous professional associations and has served as a consultant to the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Institute of Drug Abuse, and many other boards and institutes.  An active researcher, he has authored more than 80 professional articles, chapters and books.  As Provost at UNLV, Dr. Ferraro is chief academic officer for a campus of 20,000 students enrolled in 11 colleges offering more than 80 undergraduate and 60 graduate degrees through the doctoral level, and he oversees an academic budget of more than $100 million.
